Ultimately tough enough for every outdoor adventure
The DMC-FT5 is waterproof to depth of 13 metres and dustproof. It is also shockproof droppable from a height up to 2 metres, freezeproof to endure temperatures as low as -10˚C, and boasts pressure resistance of 100kg. It even features an anti-fog glass to prevent the lens from fogging when moving the camera from temperature extremes such as from a hot car into cold water. Take the camera out fishing, camping, diving, snorkelling, surfing, climbing, skiing or snowboarding – the DMC-FT5 is an all-year-round active field player to record stunning memories.
High performance image processing and advanced Full-HD video shooting
The new 16.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor is integrated in the DMC-FT5 to further enhance its high performance signal processing. Wavelet NR (Noise Reduction) system in the Venus Engine enables deliberate noise reduction process without missing low-frequency noise by enlarging its detection area. It results in the high sensitivity image with reduced blur even at high ISO settings. The Advanced Underwater Mode with Red Colour Reproduction compensates for the red colour which is lost in underwater shooting. The DMC-FT5 can record high-resolution full HD 1,920 x 1,080 videos with stunning smoothness at 50p in AVCHD Progressive and 25p in MP4. The videos also come with the high-quality stereo sound of Dolby® Digital and a stereo microphone with zoom noise reduction.
One-touch easy Wi-Fi connection with your smartphone or tablet
The DMC-FT5 features Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. NFC lets you connect the camera with any NFC compatible smartphone/tablet by just placing them nearby and following the simple guide. With "Panasonic Image App", you can enjoy remote shooting, easy upload to social networking sites, and Instant Transfer, which allows the camera to automatically transfer data to the designated electronic devices as you shoot. Wi-Fi Direct™ allows direct playback of images on some of the DLNA-compliant VIERA HDTV’s or Recorders*2.
More detailed location data than ever before
The GPS complies with GLONASS to further enhance its accuracy. It shows the name of the Country/Region, State/Prov./County, County/Township, City/Town/Village, and worldwide landmark information. The photos and videos with the location names are automatically sorted in the camera for quick reach and newly added logging function allows memorising travelling distance which can be displayed on the Google Earth*3 application. Compass, altimeter and even barometer are included for active outdoor use.

*1 Waterproof / Dustproof Performance
This camera's waterproof / dustproof rating complies with the “IPX8" and “IP6X" ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described in the operating instruction are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 13 m (43 feet) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes. This does not guarantee waterproofing in all conditions.
Anti-shock Performance
This camera also complies with “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock". The camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 2 m (6.6 feet) onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick plywood. In most cases this camera should not sustain any damage if dropped from a height not exceeding 2 m (6.6 feet). “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock” is the test method standard of the U.S. Defense Department, which specifies performing drop tests from a height of 122 cm (4 feet), at 26 orientations (8 corners, 12 ridges, 6 faces) using 5 sets of devices, and passing the 26 orientation drops within 5 devices. (If failure occurs during the test, a new set is used to pass the drop orientation test within a total of 5 devices) Panasonic’s test method is based on the above “MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock”. However, the drop height was changed from 122 cm (4 feet) to 200 cm (5 feet) dropping onto 3 cm (0.1 feet) thick playboard. This drop test was passed. (Disregarding appearance change such as loss of paint or distortion of the part where drop impact is applied.) This does not guarantee no destruction or no malfunction in all conditions.
